Transfer Credit
Transfer Credit Information
During the Spring, Summer, Fall 2020, Spring, & Summer 2021 terms, institutions around the country continued their course offerings in online format out of necessity. Therefore, we will accept courses for transfer credit that were completed in online format taken in the Spring, Summer, Fall 2020, Spring, & Summer 2021 term. The actual dates may vary since some institutions are on semesters and some on quarters, and their calendars vary in other ways. If the course is not listed on the transfer equivalency site, the course must be submitted for review to Transfer Credit site. This is a temporary suspension of our policy that places some restrictions around online courses and transfer credit.
In order to receive transfer credit for a course, you must submit an official transcript to the Transfer Credit Office at the following address:
Office of the Registrar

Courses will appear in the Transfer Credit Equivalency Tables after they have been evaluated. Please check this table to see if your courses have been evaluated. If you see "Approp Dept Must Evaluate" it will be your responsibility to have the course evaluated by the appropriate department. In order to assure a successful transition to Georgia Tech, you will need to follow the important listed below.
- If you are missing classes from your initial transfer credit evaluation, please first verify receipt of all official transcripts online in BuzzPort. If receipt of official transcripts has been confirmed and courses are missing, please contact the Office of Undergraduate Admission.
- If any courses on your evaluation are listed as "Approp Department Must Evaluate," you will need to "Apply For Transfer Credit" and forward the information to the appropriate department(s). It is your responsibility to have your transfer work evaluated prior to registration for the term in which you are enrolling. Your courses for evaluation may be pre-requisites for Georgia Tech courses. Failure to have coursework evaluated in a timely manner may result in registration restrictions due to your lack of pre-requisites.
- If you are a newly admitted student and are currently enrolled in classes at another School, please have your institution forward a final official transcript to the Office of Undergraduate Admission after all grades are posted. If you need transfer credit processed when you attend FASET advising, please bring an unopened, official transcript to the Registrar table. If you will need to request permits for registration from the departments because you are currently enrolled in classes, you may bring a copy of your current schedule. Additional information about advising and registration can be found at the FASET web site.

- The basic policy regarding the acceptance of the courses by transfer is to allow credit for courses completed with satisfactory grades (C or better) in other accredited colleges provided the courses correspond in time and content to courses offered at the Georgia Institute of Technology. For courses taken pass/fail at other institutions, our assumption in awarding credit is that a Pass is equivalent to a C. Transfer credits will be accepted from newly-formed institutions of the University System of Georgia prior to accreditation.
- Georgia Tech will not award credit for courses successfully completed at another institution which were previously taken at Georgia Tech.

Transfer Credit at the Undergraduate Level Transfer Credit at the Graduate LevelTransfer Credit at the Undergraduate Level
The basic policy regarding the acceptance of courses by transfer is to allow credit for courses completed with satisfactory grades ("C" or better) at other accredited colleges and universities in the United States and Canada, provided the courses correspond in time and content to courses offered at Georgia Tech. The Institute will not accept credit for courses successfully completed at another institution but previously taken at Georgia Tech unless the final grade received at Georgia Tech is a "W." The student must request and file an official transcript of transfer courses before the Institute can award credit. Coursework completed at colleges and universities outside the United States and Canada will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Transfer credit is not calculated in the Georgia Tech grade-point average.
Students may attend another institution as a transient student during terms when not enrolled at Georgia Tech. Students should discuss their course selection with their academic advisor to ensure transferability and applicability toward their degree programs. With the exception of officially sanctioned cross-enrolled programs, students are not to be enrolled at Georgia Tech and another institution during the same term without the specific approval the Institute Undergraduate Curriculum Committee or Institute Graduate Curriculum Committee, as appropriate.
Official policies regarding transfer credit are published in the Catalog.
Transfer Credit at the Graduate Level
A student may not apply for transfer credit until after matriculation at Georgia Tech. The courses to be transferred would typically be those appearing on the approved program of study form for the masters degree. A doctoral student normally does not request transfer credit. The rules relative to and the process for obtaining transfer of credit for graduate-level courses are published in the Catalog.
Transfer Credit Equivalency Tables
Within the OSCAR portal, the Transfer Credit Articulation site displays the previously established equivalent courses from the Georgia Tech transfer catalogs.

Graduate students and graduate-level applicants do not use this site. Instead, they should consult the "Graduate Policies and Regulations" page of the Catalog for guidance.
Graduate Policies and Regulations
Before submitting a request for an evaluation, please review the Transfer Equivalency Catalog. If your courses are listed with a Georgia Tech equivalent, there is no need to request an additional evaluation.
Transfer Credit Equivalency Tables
Before logging into this website and requesting a transfer credit review you will need to have a course syllabus and/or description in electronic format for each course being evaluated. The course syllabus and description are the basis of your evaluation. Georgia Tech cannot process your request without them.
