Welcome back! The Readmission Policy applies to former degree-seeking students who have been absent for three or more consecutive semesters (including summer) and wish to return to continue their enrollment.
Students may only apply for readmission to the same degree level (graduate or undergraduate) as they were in their most recent term of enrollment. A student may not use the readmission process to apply for a new degree level. A student last enrolled as an undergraduate student must apply through Graduate Education to seek admission to a graduate-level program or to study as a non-degree seeking student at the graduate level. A student last enrolled as a graduate student must apply through undergraduate Admission to pursue study for an undergraduate degree or study as a non-degree seeking student at the undergraduate level.
Before submitting your application, complete the following steps. Addressing these items early prevents delays in your readmission process.
Academic Documentation
Collect official transcripts from all colleges, universities or schools attended after you were enrolled at Georgia Tech and before the time you apply for readmission.
Set Realistic Expectations
Readmission is not guaranteed. Schools and Colleges must recommend readmission. The Readmission policy supersedes the Change of Major Policy. No School or College is obligated to readmit a student even if that student is within their limit for requesting a non-restricted change of major.
To ensure sufficient time for processing, advising, and course registration, please adhere to the following deadlines. Meeting the priority deadline gives you the best access to course selection.

We are currently accepting applications for readmission for Spring 2027.
Do not begin more than one application unless you are instructed to do so by a representative from the Office of the Registrar. Beginning more than one application may result in a delay in the processing of your readmission.
The application for readmission for Summer 2027 will be available in October.

Effective July 1, 2026, the readmission form requires payment of a $75.00 fee.
Any student who meets any of the criteria in the readmission policy must apply for readmission. This application, with all the pertinent supporting information, must be submitted to the Office of the Registrar before the deadline for the academic term for which readmission is requested.
Readmission is not guaranteed. Schools/Colleges must recommend readmission for any student wishing to return in majors under their jurisdiction.
Students are readmitted under the current catalog that is in effect at the time of readmission. If a student wishes to follow the degree requirements from a catalog in effect prior to the term of readmission, they must make a request to the Major School by submitting a separate Petition to the Faculty Form. There is no guarantee that such a request will be granted and readmitted students should be prepared to follow the current degree requirements as outlined in the current catalog. Readmitted students should also be aware of the 10-year rule. Programs of study that have been deactivated or terminated are not available for readmission. Students who were enrolled in a program of study that has since been deactivated are eligible for readmission to the Institute; however, they must select an active program at the time of readmission. Once a decision is made to no longer admit students to a program of study due to an impending deactivation or termination, readmission is also not allowed.
The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia requires all students to submit immunization records prior to registration for classes. Please visit www.health.gatech.edu. Click on "Immunization Requirements" and follow the step by step instructions on submitting the correct immunization forms. It is very important to upload the immunization documents as instructed. In accordance with University System of Georgia policy, all students admitted to Georgia Tech must verify both their lawful presence in the United States and their legal name before enrolling.
