Veterans Tuition Assistance

Tuition Assistance

Summary of TA

Tuition Assistance (TA) is a Department of Defense financial assistance provided for voluntary off-duty education programs in support of a Soldier’s professional and personal self-development goals.

At Georgia Tech the Tuition Assistance (TA) program pays the cost of some tuition and some additional fees. Nearly all active-duty military service members are eligible for TA. However, each service branch determines eligibility criteria that often reduces access. Tuition Assistance covers a maximum of $250 per semester hour or $4,500 per fiscal year.

All service members should speak with their Educational Services Officer (ESO) or counselor within their military service prior to enrolling at Georgia Tech or any institution. Since military funding is limited, it is important for all service members to use all their resources in making any educational decision.

Required Documents

  • Authorization for Tuition Assistance

Students must submit an Authorization for Tuition Assistance document each term they wish to use TA. This document should be generated via the TA portal from the service member’s branch. Reach out to your ESO directly for more information.

Please submit the Authorization for Tuition Assistance to veterans@registrar.gatech.edu and thirdpartymilitary@business.gatech.edu for processing.

  • Evaluated Degree Plan

All student utilizing TA must upload an Evaluated Degree Plan into their TA portal. This document, called DegreeWorks at Georgia Tech, articulates all degree requirements for degree completion, identifies all courses required for graduation and includes an evaluation of all successfully completed prior coursework.

Students may download a PDF of DegreeWorks by taking the following steps:

    1. Login to oscar.gatech.edu
