Enrollment Verification

Enrollment Status: Full-Time or Part-Time

The following is applicable to all terms (including summer), and to all students (both undergraduate and graduate).

Students scheduled for at least 12 credit hours in a semester are classified as full-time students; those scheduled for 6-11 hours are classified as part-time students; and those scheduled for 1-5 hours are classified as less-than-part-time students.

Students who hold student loans are in deferred status on repayment as long as they remain enrolled full-time. For students holding Federal student loans, enrollment status is automatically verified each term through the National Student Clearinghouse. Although students receive deferment forms in the mail, they do not have to bring them to us or take any action because Georgia Tech is a member of the Student Loan Clearinghouse and the enrollment verification is an automatic process that occurs each term.

Students whose parents hold PLUS loans, or other loans on behalf of the student, must bring those forms to the Registrar's Office for completion since enrollment is not automatically verified through the Clearinghouse. These loans refer to the parents, not the students, so the Clearinghouse is not an option.

The anticipated date of graduation is calculated for each student at the point of admission. However, this date is often incorrect. Students are strongly encouraged to review their anticipated date of graduation so that Clearinghouse and local data base information is correct. The following page provides more information on updating the anticipated date of graduation.
