All courses for the Spring 2021 semester have an assigned course attribute which indicates how content will be delivered. The attributes assigned serve as a general basis for delivery modes, but do not include specific information for individual courses. Steps for locating course information and expectations can be found below.
As part of the spring plan, each course and section will be designated as residential, hybrid, or remote. The majority of courses will have some in-person attendance. The health and safety of our students and faculty are our top priority in setting all class modes. An important part of that is allowing for safe physical distancing in the classrooms where these courses are held. We will utilize the established social distancing layouts and capacities for spring courses and, based on delivery mode, ensure courses are assigned to appropriately sized rooms matching their instructional plans.
Delivery modes defined:
Residential: This is the traditional, in-person delivery of courses, using social distancing measures in our classrooms.
Hybrid: These courses offer a combination of in-person and remote learning experiences. Hybrid courses will include regular and pre-scheduled face-to-face engagement. Some courses and classroom assignments may permit each student to attend class in-person at least once each week within social distancing constraints. This is a general guidepost to inform planning, and actual in-person sessions will depend on the space available and optimal pedagogical approach for the course, with the goal of maximizing face-to-face instruction while maintaining health and safety precautions.
Remote: Some courses will be offered with fully remote delivery, either at the announced and scheduled class time (synchronously) or asynchronously. Courses may be offered remotely due to instructors’ approved Covid-19 accommodations or where pedagogical needs or space constraints dictate.
